Webinar on ‘Role of Indian YMCAs in Olympic Movement’

The Youth Empowerment, Gender, Sports / Physical Recreation and Committee for Sports & Games under the aegis of The National Council of YMCAs of India conducted Webinar on the theme ‘Role of Indian YMCAs in Olympic Movement’ on July 22, 2021, on Zoom,  The webinar started with a word of prayer by Mr. Terence John, Member, NYEGSPR Committee.  Justice J B Koshy (Retd.), President NCYI, delivered a Special Message.   Mr. Carlos Sanvee, Secretary General, World Alliance of YMCAs, addressed the participants. Mr. Gaurav Kalyan, Chairman, Youth Empowerment, Gender, Sports / Physical Recreation Committee presided over the programme.  Mr. Jose Nettikkadan, Chairman of the National Organizing Committee for Sports & Games; Mrs. Anju Bobby George, Olympian & Medalist, World Athletics Championship; Mr. Charles Borromeo, Arjuna Awardee and Asian Medalist;   Mr. M.S. Varghese, Director of Sports Authority of India, New Delhi;  Dr. Sheila Stephen, Vice Chancellor, Tamilnadu Physical Education & Sports University; Mr. Bertram Devadas, National General Secretary, NCYI; and Mr. Kazuki Yamene, Senior Executive Director, Osaka YMCA, Japan were among other dignitaries who attended the Webinar. The webinar was moderated by Mr. Norris Pritam, International Sports Reporter, New Delhi. The session panelists were Dr. George Abraham, Principal of YMCA College of Physical Education, Chennai, Prof. Dr. S. Thirumalai Kumar, Professor, Department of Physical Education, Tamil Nadu Physical Education & Sports University and Mr. Sebastian George, Sports Historian & Managing Trustee, Jimmy George  Foundation.  The webinar was anchored by Mr. Sebastian Francis, Sports Commentator & Administrator, Chennai. Prayer for Indian Olympic Contingent led by Mr. Sundersingh Barnabas, Secretary, Movement Strengthening, NCYI. Mr. Koshy Alexander Vaidyan, Secretary, Youth Empowerment Gender, Sports / Physical Recreation, NCYI, delivered the vote of thanks.
